I have a confession to make. In the middle of the recent Powerball frenzy, I bought a ticket. Ok, I spent $20 on Powerball tickets. Ok, ok….I spent $20 on Powerball tickets twice. Whew, I feel better now.
I never buy lottery tickets. Ever. But there was something about the frenzy of Powerball that brought those of us who never buy them straight out to our local convenience store with the hope that maybe, just maybe, we might be the lucky ones.
Over the last few weeks I have had more than a couple of conversations on what if….what if you win? What is the first thing you would you do? What is the first thing you would buy? Would you quit your job?
Those conversations rolled over and over in my mind for a long while. Not because of what might happen, but because of what is NOT happening. Huh? Let me explain.
Why does it take winning the lottery to do the things we want to do in life? I recently saw a post online with a pretty picture that said, “You know that thing you really want to do? Well, go and do it!” It just requires going back to the basics of goal setting, time management, and accountability. If you set a goal and the micro goals that go along with it, manage your time and keep yourself accountable (or work with an accountability partner) you WILL get there.
OK, you may not quit your job tomorrow or buy a private island. But if you are unhappy with something in your life or desire to make a move or invest in something special, do it! It takes some planning and saving, but you can still do it.
Don’t sit around waiting to win the lottery to make a big change in your life. Your life is now – don’t spend the most valuable currency you have, TIME, on waiting for that mythical day in the future that is perfect to make a change. Start today! And as always, if you need some help getting started, I’m ready to help you lay out your road map.
Love and hugs!
